I entered my first heat way back in February at Box Hill skatepark and after what has been an amazing 3 months of qualifying, traveling to awesome skateparks and making some good friends, the League is finished. The top 25 have been invited to the grand finals this Saturday at Melbourne City Park – Riverslide.
I am pleased to announce that I have made the cut and have qualified in 5th! Im so stoked! Another fact that I think is rad is that I never placed outside of the top 10 in any of the heats leading to the finals.
I will post an update next week and let you know how the finals went – Wish me luck.
The finals are getting ever closer and with only 1 qualifying heat now remaining the level of riding at Heat 11 of the South Eastern Australian BMX League on Saturday was so high. Chelsea skatepark appears to be a good course for me ( see the previous post below ) At Heat 11 on Saturday just gone I won the medal for Best Rider!
Nik Ford - Best Rider at Heat 11 of the South Eastern Australian BMX League 2010
Proper stoked!, I used my whole 2nd run to get the toothpick grind transfer out of the park pulled - the first crash knocked the wind out of me but I dusted myself off and got it done. This result also means that I keep my qualifying record intact by not having placed outside of the top 10 at any Heat. YES !
I will blog again early next week with an update about the last qualifer and if Ive made the cut - FINGERS CROSSED !
Australia keeps getting better and better! On Saturday I competed in the PRO BMX competition at the Chelsea Skate of Mind Festival and took the win! Im so stoked, check the official photo of me with my winners cheque/certificate;

The highlight of my run I think was a toothpick grind transfer out of the park on one of the guard rails on the side of a quarter pipe.
I have heat 8 of the South Eastern League this weekend so fingers crossed for another good result, the finals are getting ever closer and I really want to make the cut.
I competed in heat 5 of the South Eastern BMX League here in Australia on Saturday just gone and not only made the top 5 by placing 4th but won the medal for best rider! Proper stoked. The skatepark at Prahran is more of a street plaza so it suited my riding style. Check the overview photo of the course below;
The ledges on the top right of the photo are pretty steep but real good. I will update again soon. Ive got another stop on the tour this weekend so fingers crossed for some more good scores. Gotta keep moving up the league table to be at the finals in May.
Proper stoked! The new issue of DIg is out now so buy a copy and show some love to them as DIG have always been good to me.
In more good news, after 2 events in the South Eastern BMX League here in Australia im currently in 6th place overall. The top 20 get invited to the finals at the end of May so fingers crossed I can make the cut.
Ive got my 3rd stop on the tour this Saturday and the skatepark where its at is more of a street plaza so it will suit my style of riding - cant wait! I will let you know how I do in the next week or so.
