20 stair handrail

Nik Ford - 20 stair rail. Photo by Ben Sutor

Ive been wanting to hit this rail for awhile but truth be told its massive and ive been nervous! It has been haunting me for to long and this morning it was dry and I'd had enough so after a few phone calls and a couple of harsh slams I got it done! Im so stoked, and I would go as far as to say it ones of the proudest moments on a BMX and I wanted to share this with you.

I obviously had the video camera running and this rail will be in my section on the dvd im currently working on. " What Next..? " should be out for Halloween, keep checking back for more information and a trailer.

Street ride in Birmingham = Good Times!

Nik Ford - 1 foot moto, Birmingham. Photo by Tom Elliott

This Sunday just gone me and the lads hooked up with Mr Matt Parker of Project 5 fame and hit the streets of Birmingham. It was an awesome day, even if we did get like 6 punctures between us all! Project 5 organise rad street jams and if you haven't been to one yet keep your eyes peeled for details on the next one which should be happening sometime in August. Check out the P5 myspace at;

Nik Ford - The last 6 years on Ride UK BMX Magazine website.... PART 1

Robin Fenlon asked me to pen some words detailing the last 6 years of my life for the Ride Mag and he has posted part one online today. Hit up the link below:

http://rideukbmx.com/news/day-died-part-1.html

Wearing a helmet whilst riding is something I can not emphasize enough, if I wasn't wearing one I wouldn't be typing this blog entry and sharing my story with you.

Part two will be up tomorrow and I can assure you it is more uplifting than part 1 !

In other news, I placed 2nd in the ledge jam at Redditch skatepark on Sunday just gone (see poster in post below)

Redditch Skatepark BMX Jam May 3rd 2009

Dont read to much into the jams title - I dont think the skatepark is closing or anything drastic!  Check the 13 Productions logo!  Got a few prizes to give out, T-Shirts, DVD's, pivotal seat, brake, stickers etc.

The jam will have a pro/rookie spine/mini comp and pro\rookie street plus highest hop and air, ledge jam and a special Man of the Match award for someone who is killin' it. Wether it is a pro doing mad loops and spins or some young ripper that is clearly pushing himself. Good times to be had for sure!

Fingers crossed for good weather.

See you there

Mount Hawke Jam 2009

Just wanted to give a big shout to Mikie and crew for organizing another rad jam at Mount Hawke on Sunday. Everyone was shredding! Massive props goes out to my boi Ben Sutor for taking the win in PRO spine! Pro spine was packed full of shredders, Martyn Tambling, Toby Cresswell, Dan + Del Sheppard etc. Check Ben's web edit below as an example as to how it shut it down!

I (nik ford) rode PRO street and for the record kept it STREET! X-up grind to bars, bars on the tight vertwall, tooth down the rail. For my stunt to end on I sent the 180 over the new double thing over the whole driveway. Got super close but couldnt slow the roll back down enough and on like my 5th go I slammed proper hard and have now got 2 bruised hips, bruised left heal, bruised right knee, stiff left wrist, grazed back and buttocks and to top it all off whiplash!

Goodtimes.x

http://rideukbmx.com/news/nike-media-apprentice-dump-0204.html

I also got a mention on there for some geek info I fired over about Dahon’sseatpost pump in relation to an Aprils fools update that the Source were going to be making a seatpost pump for BMX’s. Check the link below;

Project 5 / DUB BMX Rampworx Liverpool Jam Edit

Charlie Jobling has posted his edit from the Project 5 / DUB BMX jam up on the seventies website now. I was asked to help film and I am credited for my work but they spelt my name "Nick Ford" not "Nik Ford" - oh well, stoked to have been asked and i know it means me! Check the edit below;

Keep an eye out for details of the next jam.

Went and rode Perdi last night with Tommy Gunnz and AC and when we arrived i was stoked to see Homer, Chicken and Project 5 Matt there sessioning. Treats! Good times. Oh and saw some crazy dude smack the crap out of guy who stole his motorbike or something on the way to the park, this kinda tweaked me out!  People running through traffic and cars with gezzers in and i swear the guy was being punched in the head for like 5 mins! savage

Unsung - better quality trailer uploaded to Vimeo

The compression quality of the Unsung trailer on Youtube is so poor that a couple of weeks ago i uploaded it to Vimeo. Check it out below, i think you will agree Vimeo is the way forward!

UNSUNG BMX DVD TRAILER from nik ford on Vimeo.

There are only about 70 copies of UNSUNG left so if you still havent got one you better act fast! Copies can be found it the stockist list on the Vimeo page as well as the Myspace page. Ive also got the last lot on ebay so go search - there are still a few copies out there!

Work on the sequel is going well but this winter weather is really slowing things down - arrgh ! Roll on spring time. We've got loads of spots to hit so keep checking back for updates on how the filming is going.
